Arrival
Students can be dropped off as early as 7:30 AM. Breakfast will be provided from 7:30 AM - 8:05 AM.
Tardy
Your child is tardy after 8:10. It is very important that your child gets to school on time every day. It sets the tone for the day and will cause disruptions if they come in late. I know that it happens every now and then, but please try to have your child at school by 8:10 so they have a good start to their day.
Dismissal
School is out at 2:10 pm. We will walk students to the pick-up area in front of the school. Please be on time.
Absences
I hope to see your child every day. So much of what we do is almost impossible to replicate. A folder of work that can be completed at home will be sent home when students return to school. In the event of family matters and illness, please contact me and we will work together to make sure your child gets everything he or she needs.
Snack/Lunch
Our lunch is at 11:25 AM. Lunch will be available to all students. If your child brings his/her own lunch, please make make every effort to send your child with a healthy snack and/or lunch each day. It is best to send items that can be opened independently by your child as there are far more students than teachers or adult yard duties.
Number System
I will be assigning numbers to the class for organizational purposes. It will be in alphabetical order by last name. You may see numbers on their papers and folders.
Classroom Events and Information
I will communicate information through google classroom, email, and our class website. Please make sure to check google classroom, your email, and our class website often!
"At Home Practice"
At Home practice is assigned Monday-Thursday and will consist of the following: (1) Reading an A.R. book of their choice; (2) A Reading Comprehension: read, reread, respond to the comprehension questions, and provide a constructed response using the R.A.C.E. strategy; (3) Math: ZEARN Homework practice page. In addition, any unfinished classwork will become homework if more time is needed. All "At Home Practice" assignments are due on Fridays.
Checking Homework
:
Please look over all of your child’s homework for completion and make sure it is clean and legible. k. If your child is struggling with a concept in ELA or Math, please remind him/her to do their best and to ask for help in class.
Behavior Management
The second grade classroom behavior system is simple. We use positive reinforcement with our table points, classroom economy and class reflections. In the case your child has trouble following the rules the following steps will take place. The first time a student chooses to not follow the classroom rules, the student is given a verbal warning and pays a fine. If the child breaks the rules for a second time a “think sheet” will be given. If the behavior continues then an appropriate consequence will be determined and communicated to parents via email or phone call.
Classroom Rules
Our class rules are are generated as a class.
Family Situations
Please let me know if there is any situation at home that you think might cause your child stress at school. I want to know what is happening, so I can be there for your child during the day. Sometimes a few minutes of understanding can make a huge difference. Please let me know so I can help!
